Found Typography #1

Like a million other designers I collect examples of typography that I find by photographing them. Sometimes what grabs my attention is amusingly bad and sometimes it’s genuinely great.

I’m not holding this up as work; I only stumbled across these. But I’ve got a lot of pictures and I’m going to post a few examples at a time that I think are worth sharing. Enjoy.

Blu Mar Ten’s ‘Believe Me’ arrived in the post…

… so I took some pictures and added them to the other images of work I’ve done for Blu Mar Ten.

Artwork for new Bop album, ‘Clear Your Mind’ (updated)

I’m a bit slow off the mark announcing this since it came out 3 days ago. I’ve not got my physical copy yet but it looks like this… It just arrived in the post and I’ve taken some photographs which can be seen with the other images of work I have done for Bop.

Artwork for Blu Mar Ten’s next single, “Believe Me”

This is the second single I’ve done the artwork for for cross-genre electronic music veterans, Blu Mar Ten, and their second self-released vinyl. I might have to declare a conflict of interest due to my close working relationship with the group, but I’d be lying if I didn’t say these tracks are pretty special. I think you should listen to them.

See the full artwork along with everything else I’ve done for Blu Mar Ten here.

Chairs

I like chairs. I’ve always liked to draw them. It’s the implication of a person without them actually being there, and how loaded each type is and what that means about who might occupy it. That’s, of course, overinflated bullshit. I do like them though. I think this will become a bigger project.

The Blu Mar Ten Logo that never was

We went through a few ideas to come up with what became the Blu Mar Ten logo. This one never made it, but I’m still particularly fond of it. So here it is for posterity.

Two variations on Bookman Swash.

New website for Fireworks Ceramics Studio

I’ve just created a new website for the long running Fireworks Ceramics Studio here in Glasgow. Fireworks had a very limited budget, so I used a modified version of the site I created for Blu Mar Ten to meet their requirements.

Fireworks didn’t really have a visual identity so I also created a simple logotype using ITC Lubalin for the site.
